PR Connections #5

A few months ago the world was introduced to the famous “David after the Dentist” YouTube video. Almost everyone in their right mind has seen the video, regardless of if you’re one of those people who just sits around for hours on end watching halarious videos or if you’re just a regular Joe who happpened to come across it. I thought this was the funniest thing I have ever seen at the time. Weeks passed and I was showing more and more people the video. Everytime I searched YouTube for it there were more and more versions of the video that people had taken and edited however they pleased. There are some very creative people, with way too much time on their hands. Anyways, one time I searched it I found that there were actual T-Shirts that you could purchase that simply said “David after the Dentist” on them. It amazes me how we can advertise for the most simple things in life. This dad had no idea at the time that his 3 minute video of his son all doped up after the dentist visit would impact us the way it did. Now, this father has been on a few comedy shows and people are talking about it like this little boy is a celebrity. I just think it’s crazy how something like this could actually make money by selling T-Shirts and doing public appearances. Our society is so easily amused!
